Azulynegro. Mixed media on canvas 79 x 79 x 4.50 cm
Refusing to agree with the idea of cold abstraction, these paintings saturate the viewer's senses with colour, mark-making, and texturing. The rich tones and blends of pigments enhanced by use of textures give it a sense of warmth, rejecting cold undertones. My paintings are based in organic forms; nature, rough quality superficies and colours are the most of my artistic inspirations.
I am interested in rusty metals and shine effects on diverse superficies, as well by the vivid colours and rough textures of minerals; in my paintings I want to approximate to reproduce this interest. Using varied materials such as acrylic and oil paints, colour, shiny foil and glue over canvas or wood.
I apply this technique to make paint and metal layers, melting them into the superficies, in a sculptural way. I allow the textures and colors assemble with each layer. I like building abstract work that has astounding intensity, to evoke certain richness, seen through a spectrum of colours; that often are balanced but sometimes with intent, contradict.
