ARTIST STATEMENT I am a visual artist, originally from Seville and based in London. I am mainly interested in creating artworks that call for the connection with the viewers. I consider my cultural identity a significant inspiration for my work, as well as my gay identity and everyday observations around London. For his variety of cultures and artistic movements, Seville is a rich source in gothic and Arab architecture based in geometric forms and baroque paintings and sculptures, which are a rich source of inspiration for me. My practice is about perception, form and colour: visual and conceptual. I explore through my paintings how mindfulness as a natural quality touches our sense in our collective and popular territory. The human figure, mostly of sexy men, and interracial couples, I represent gay enjoyment, sports, architecture, nature and humour and vivid colours. My abstract creations are present in my artworks too, making geometrical outcomes, crafted with vivid colours, presented in response and in reaction to the world around us; it allows me to mix seemingly abstract and figurative compositions with sculptural associations.
